At the session, the prospects for exporting Russian IT solutions to Indonesia were discussed by the Russian Trade Representative in the country, Sergey Rossomakhov. According to him, by 2025, the volume of the e-commerce market in Indonesia will reach $100 billion, and the volume of the digital economy will be $146 billion. In 2022, according to Sergey Rossomakhov, the country recorded more than 210 million Internet users out of 277 million residents. The growth rate of the IT industry in the country is impressive, the trade representative noted. He also said that Indonesia is primarily interested in solutions in the field of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, cloud technologies, and smart city solutions.
The Russian IT business in Indonesia is not as widely represented as we would like, the trade representative expressed regret. The most significant domestic content writing service project that entered the market of this country is the online taxi ordering service "Maxim". Geosoft, a company developing software for the banking sector, SearchInform and a number of others have also achieved success.
Indonesia plans to create a working group on cooperation with Russia in the IT sector
The group will be created within the framework of the Russian-Indonesian commission on trade, economic and technical cooperation. It is also planned to consider the possibility of preparing and signing a roadmap for cooperation in the IT field for the next five years, said Sergey Rossomakhov. He believes that this will allow identifying specific projects and partners who will participate in the implementation of ideas for cooperation between Russia and Indonesia in the IT field.
RESPONSIBLE EXPORT
At the event, Oleg Glebov, Director of Business Development at the CRT Group of Companies, said that working with the government is the most interesting for suppliers of Russian IT solutions. This is explained by the possibility of implementing large projects in other countries, as well as the potential for further development. According to Oleg Glebov, it is necessary to appoint a person responsible for the export of IT solutions to other countries in Russia. Speaking at the session, Valentin Makarov, President of RUSSOFT, noted that
the main goal of exporting IT solutions is not to make money, but to geopolitically position Russia and create allied relations with friendly countries
The expert explained this by the fact that IT products are the “content” of almost any segment of the economy.
According to Sergey Ozhegov, when selling its solution to a foreign client for a certain amount, the developer company will ultimately receive only 40% of the cost. The rest of the money is spent on commissions, taxes, etc. A way out of this situation could be to pay in cryptocurrency, but the regulatory conditions in our country do not yet allow this.
Oleg Glebov believes that simplifying IT exports will now seriously help the industry. At the same time, in his opinion, the export of artificial intelligence-based solutions that do not have a dual purpose should be simplified first and foremost.
